The professional standards for BC educators include a variety of information. The standards for a certified teacher in BC must include a commonly held standard of practice and conduct that help guide my teacher education, practice, and ongoing professional growth. Teachers should also communicate to the public the standards that educators hold. They must also establish a regulatory framework that guides the ministry of education and other decision-makers in decisions related to teacher education programs, certificates, fitness to practice and discipline of certified teachers. This site also states how the children in our care are the first and foremost our most important priority within our profession and that we are held to the growth and development of the students. The BC profession standards also states how we must focus on inclusivity and equity in our intercultural classrooms. Teachers have collective role to be adaptive and innovative when it comes to achieving all the students’ needs to be successful.
