Field-Project-Report

I chose to include this in my portfolio because this interview was completely linked to teaching. For this activity, I had to interview Paula Thompson, a former teacher of mine, a handful of questions that was related to teaching. Paula answered these propmpted questions to the best of her ability that were realated to classroom management strategies, what she had to do in the midst of a global pandemic, and how she was able to adaptable throughout this experience. Just by listening and taking notes of what she said I was able to learn a lot. Paula made it clear about the importance of risk-taking in her classrooms and she found that this is where the most growth and progess happened. Paula also mentioned that community and trust was up there in the importance level as this is what drives/gravitates the students to school who have a tough home life. Paula did mention that there are going to be years that are tougher then others, as it depends on the students that you have in your class. Therefore, she said that as the teacher its important to be passionate, excited, and enthusiastic about the topics as this is what creates the energy in the room. Needless to say I learned a lot from Paula. I found this field project very helpful for me as a future educator. Not only did I learn a lot, but I also got given the knowledge of what to expect and how to prepare myself for when I am a certified teacher.
